Description:
What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Business Development Manager in Europe to build / maintain customer relationships and plan for Tesla’s future Semi Truck deployments. This person will regularly meet with prospective European Semi customers to understand their use cases, needs, and duty cycles.
Eventually they will work with individual site managers to spec vehicles and associated charging infrastructure. You will be responsible for identifying good candidates for electrification, guiding the customer and site through all stages of the on-boarding, commissioning, delivery, and implementation processes while working with team leads for production, charging deployment, and the larger program to ensure smooth project execution and timely hand off.
When required, you may work with government agencies and customers on projects involving external funding and ensure Tesla supports with the relevant deliverables and information. This will also require working closely with Tesla’s policy team to provide input on various funding programs and feedback on how regulation, legislation, and other government efforts might impact the Semi program. This role requires a strong communicator with a deep understanding of the European commercial vehicle landscape and fleet operating environment.
Please note that we would also consider Berlin as a base location.
What You’ll Do
- Identify strategic fleet sales opportunities in the European market and total addressable market
- Work with customers to characterise their duty cycle and determine if Semi is an operational fit
- Communicate vehicle and chargings specs to customers
- Relay and maintain customer requests and feedback to program and engineering leads
- Manage customer relationships, fleet sales accounts, and eventually sales contract negotiations
- Provide customer and market insights to inform Tesla’s growth in the EU
- Work with internal policy team on commercial vehicle priorities and industry guidance and manage Tesla deliverables for customer grant reporting and implementation requirements
What You’ll Bring
- Fleet management, commercial vehicle sales, and/or industry leadership experience
- Impeccable interpersonal and communication skills to provide professional presentations to senior level managers, customer executive teams, and government leaders. German language proficiency would be beneficial
- Self-starter who can handle multiple projects with different requests, schedules, and priorities with minimal direction
- Ability to work within a complex and fluid, fast-paced, demanding work environment
- Skilled at building and maintaining positive working relationships with all necessary business functions including engineering, production, supply chain, service, etc.
- Proficient in organisational applications for analysis and presentation (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Project, Confluence, JIRA, etc.)
- Willingness to travel to corporate, customer, and government locations
