While the portfolio includes both short and long tail claims, we’re open to a variety of experiences and won’t limit the opportunity based on technical exposure to both.

Your new role

You’ll be supported to lead in a way that reflects your personal style and values. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the development & implementation of the NZPAC claims strategy, ensuring it aligns with divisional goals and delivers against key milestones
  • Provide technical expertise and business acumen as a key public interface to develop QBE’s profile in the marketplace
  • Direct thorough investigation of claims
  • Provide team with direction and key decision making on large complex claims
  • Ensure team efficiency by managing claims-related finances and implementing best practices.
  • Use planned business levels and knowledge of the Claims environment to forecast Claims activity and support decision making
  • Championing a data-informed culture—supporting analytical thinking, continuous learning, and customer-focused decision-making
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders across NZ, Pacific and Australia, creating alignment and shared success
  • Leading with inclusive leadership & curiosity—fostering open dialogue, innovation, and a safe space for ideas and questions
  • Happy to talk flexible working

About you

We’re looking for a capable, thoughtful, and future-focused leader who brings:

  • A background in insurance claims, with technical competencies and operational understanding
  • A collaborative and adaptive leadership style with stakeholder management skills & confidence to navigate change
  • Comfortable with challenging traditional ways of thinking in a constructive and respectful manner
  • A mindset that thrives on innovation, process improvement, and exploring better ways to deliver claims services
  • A passion for building inclusive teams and a demonstrated commitment to diversity
  • Experience working across regions and with Australian stakeholders is a plus
  • While broker relationships aren’t a focus, you’ll bring a sharp attention to internal processes and customer outcomes
