New Reflexions is a well-established, specialist, independent provider of high-quality services for young people in therapeutic residential care/education. The Clinical Services Department sits at the heart of an integrated model of intervention stretching across care, education, psychology, and therapy.
We are currently looking for a Head of Clinical service to join our Clinical Team at our Head Office, Shrewsbury. The Clinical Services Department includes Art Psychotherapy, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, and Speech and Language Therapy. The candidate will lead clinical development and oversight of our Learning Disability and Autism services, contributing to the strategic vision of the service. The candidate will also provide managerial oversight of the clinical team alongside holding a small caseload of clinical work.
Location: Full time based in our Shrewsbury head office

REQUIREMENTS

  • Doctoral level training in Psychology;
  • Full membership of relevant professional body – HCPC
  • Proven relevant post qualification experience in Learning Disabilities and Autism
  • Able to demonstrate service management experience;
  • A developed, sophisticated and robust theoretical understanding of complex trauma / attachment theory;
  • The ability to deliver high quality training, staff team consultancy, therapeutic interventions and assessment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience of working with young people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism who are pre-verbal and working at early developmental levels;
  • Demonstrable experience as a psychologist working with young people who present with complex trauma and significant risk;
  • Experience of leadership and service management;
  • Substantial experience of staff team consultancy including systemic working with care, education and health services;
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with harmful sexual behaviour and youth offending/youth justice services;
  • Experience of auditing and developing systems;
  • Experience of delivering high quality supervision;
  • Experience of delivering high quality training.
Responsibilities
  • Clinical oversight and leadership role in relation to the clinical team;
  • Managerial supervision of clinical team members, including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Psychotherapists;
  • To actively maintain, facilitate and develop mechanisms of integration between care, education and the clinical service
  • Managing clinical referral and triage systems, alongside establishing and maintaining work relationships with external therapeutic associates;
  • To take an active part in organisational and strategic development;
  • Audit and development of the Clinical Services Department;
  • Consultancy to staff teams and the wider organisation;
  • Provision of psychological assessments, training, consultation and direct therapy;
  • Maintaining and developing effective policies around service delivery, particularly those relating to clinical governance;
  • To be fully aware of the relevant legal frameworks and any developments therein;
