CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, mentor and develop the Communications Delivery team, acting as deputy for Deputy Director as required and ensuring a coordinated and integrated approach to communications.
  • Strategy Development & Implementation: Create and execute a mission-focused Communications Delivery Strategy aligned with organisational objectives including strategic planning, performance monitoring and reporting across digital platforms, social media and media relations.
  • Reputation Management: Strategically position and protect the organisation’s reputation through effective external channels, horizon scanning for emerging issues and leading appropriate communications responses.
  • Media & Corporate Communications: Strengthen media relations through proactive and reactive strategies, oversee high-quality corporate communications materials and manage media engagement.
  • Digital & Social Media Leadership: Drive innovation in the CAA’s digital presence, lead digital strategy evolution, maintain brand consistency across all platforms and govern the team’s digital estate including websites.
  • Campaign Management: Lead integrated communications campaigns including behavioural change initiatives ensuring value for money and measurable impact on organisational priorities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within the Communications & Engagement Team to ensure cohesive content development and communication delivery as we connect, advise and protect.
  • Crisis Readiness: Maintain crisis communication plans covering all external channels.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The Head of Communications Delivery is a dynamic public facing role, leading a team to deliver communications excellence across media relations, corporate communications, digital platforms (website, digital content) and social media channels. The Head of Communications Delivery will be expected to champion integrated communications and empower high-quality, results-drive communications that amplify the organisation’s mission, values and priorities.

Minimum essential requirements for the role:

  • Demonstrable Leadership experience within communications delivery
  • Proven experience holding a key role in a communication’s team with media and relationship work.
  • Experience of managing, designing and running campaigns
  • Experience of managing digital engagement and channels
  • Evidence of building relationships with national journalists and senior leaders within and outside of the organisation.
  • Can demonstrate experience of continuously developing teams and change

Desirable skills for the role:

  • Communications experience within the aerospace industry or regulated environmen
