RSL LifeCare are seeking Head of Communications who will be responsible for developing communications that positively manage the RSL LifeCare brand reputation and convey clear messaging to intended internal and external individuals or groups.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing a cohesive multi-channel communications strategy for the organisation.
  • Develop policy positions and submissions for Government influencing on aged care and veterans related topics, including Linked in profile pieces for CEO, in partnership with our Government Relations agency.
  • Responding to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally, leading the internal Crisis Media Team.
  • Managing media relations and other stakeholders such as Agency partners and high profile speakers.
  • Attending RSLLC and government/ stakeholder events to manage media and communications messaging.
  • Conducting quality control on all communications and coach & develop a team of communication professionals.
  • Assist ELT & Board members in developing presentations, speeches, and other important corporate messages

Who are you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline is preferred.
  • You are a seasoned internal and external communications professional presenting with proven work experience, in a similar head of department role, working within a complex and/ or highly regulated industry.
  • Exceptional copywriting, copy editing & communication skills.
  • Government relations and policy advocacy experience.
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments to lead teams of communication specialists in responding to public relations crises.
  • Significant experience in the design and execution of both proactive and reactive communication strategies, involving complex issues with multiple stakeholders.
  • Very familiar with leveraging all forms of media, including press releases and digital campaigns, print materials, social media, audio and video and more.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively, but also adapt and respond to emerging issues, short deadlines and other demands or challenges.

It is a mandatory requirement for a team member working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid RSL LifeCare Police Check or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of the role.
