We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Construction Planning & Commissioning to join our Infrastructure Delivery team in our Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne office on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the General Manager Project Delivery, you will play a key role in leading portfolio-wide construction planning, project controls and commissioning across APA’s capital growth projects. This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered safely, reliably and on time - with a strong focus on commissioning readiness, operational integration and successful asset handover. You will drive schedule discipline, commissioning readiness and delivery performance across a complex portfolio of infrastructure growth projects, while strengthening capability and embedding best practice across planning and commissioning functions. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership of construction planning and commissioning across APA’s growth projects portfolio, ensuring reliable, on-time delivery and seamless handover of assets into Operations. Establish and govern integrated planning frameworks, including Primavera P6 programs, benchmarking and performance reporting to drive schedule discipline and delivery certainty. Lead the development of advanced project controls capability, including design progress monitoring, earned value management and schedule risk analysis across all capital projects. Partner with senior leaders across Energy Solutions, Project Delivery, Engineering, Commercial, Access and Approvals and Operations to optimise delivery outcomes, manage critical path performance and mitigate risk. Build and lead a high-performing planning and commissioning function, embedding consistency, capability uplift and best practice across a multi-project portfolio, working in a matrix style environment. Oversee end-to-end commissioning strategy and execution, ensuring operational readiness, safety, quality assurance and early integration with Operations. Your Background Extensive experience leading construction planning, project controls and commissioning across large, complex capital programs within energy, infrastructure or major project environments including long linear / logistically complex projects. Demonstrated ability to operate across a portfolio of concurrent projects, establishing integrated planning approaches and driving delivery performance. Deep technical expertise in Primavera P6 and advanced project controls, including schedule optimisation, earned value management and schedule risk analysis. Proven leadership capability in building and leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams, driving capability uplift and consistent delivery standards. Strong commercial and delivery acumen, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and influence decision-making at a senior level. Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with ability to lead and influence across matrix organisations and multiple stakeholder groups, partnering with senior leaders across development, delivery, engineering, commercial and operations functions.
