Responsibilities

PURPOSE AND ROLE

· Provide management, development and implementation of a responsive and innovative curriculum that aligns with the College’s overall strategy, ensuring high levels of success and value for money.
· Ensure curriculum design delivers exceptional teaching and learning, enabling students to achieve and progress, achieving success measures.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage, grow and develop the assigned curriculum areas for the college in line with the College’s curriculum strategy.
  2. Support teams to translate this strategy into effective operational objectives which are continuously reviewed and delivered to ensure that an excellent level of learning and student experience is achieved.
  3. Liaise effectively with relevant external agencies, awarding bodies, sector groups, industry leads and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the College is aligned and able to influence future thinking within the education and skills sector.
  4. Maintain horizon scanning and awareness of local, regional and national developments aligned to funding to ensure the College supports opportunities which align to the strategic vision.
  5. Ensure there is employer engagement that shapes the curriculum offer and delivery as well as enhancing the student journey through relevant work experience opportunities and work-related activities.
  6. Create ideas and innovative thinking for new models of learning and vocational initiatives.
  7. Facilitate the development of new academic initiatives using business learning technologies in order to enhance curriculum delivery and student satisfaction.
  8. Drive sustainability through the curriculum to ensure the College is recognised as a beacon for sustainability.
  9. Manage strategies to enhance performance/quality and implement these effectively to create a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and excellence.
  10. Manage the effective review of the achievement of performance in accordance with the current educational quality assurance framework and provide leadership and ensure accountability to continuously improve the quality of the learning experience.
  11. Manage monitoring of area targets and key success measures to meet and exceed recruitment, retention, achievement, participation and progression targets.
  12. Support the quality and standards of the curriculum delivery to ensure extraordinary teaching and learning, and the student experience is to the highest standard.
  13. Work proactively with relevant academic partners and professional bodies to ensure full and effective compliance with national requirements and standards and maintenance of the College’s excellent reputation locally and nationally.
  14. Ensure the fair and consistent management of appropriate student focused College Policies and Procedures, resulting in high expectations of performance and behaviour across the College.
  15. Liaise effectively with external industry counterparts and key further and higher education partners to build the brand and reputation of the College.
  16. Role model the values of the College as a member of the Senior Management Team and take accountability to ensure these values and behaviours are demonstrated by staff and students in all activities within your areas.
  17. Support the preparation and execution of external inspections.
  18. Motivate, engage and empower your teams, support and develop staff and robustly tackle underperformance.
  19. Participate fully in professional development, role-modelling continuous learning and knowledge sharing within your own area/s and across the College.
  20. Establish effective internal and external customer service; ensuring productive and collaborative working relationships which maximise all learner opportunities and experience.
  21. Manage the effective resourcing of your areas of responsibility in order to maintain and develop a high-quality learning provision to achieve planned growth targets.
  22. Manage curriculum areas to drive efficiencies, reduce waste and achieve high levels of quality, value for money and meets their contribution to central targets.
  23. Ensure the proactive management of budgets in line with financial regulations and the budgetary control process in order to assist with income generation and capital investment for the College.
  24. Manage and monitor curriculum development plans which inform the budget process in order to meet College financial procedures.
  25. Ensure compliance with contractual and audit requirements across your areas.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure staff as well as visitors and contractors understand and consistently apply Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity measures to ensure a healthy, sustainable and productive learning environment is consistently maintained.
  • Work in partnership with the HR Department in order to ensure compliance with correct application of HR Policies and Procedures.
  • To carry out any other duties as directed by your Line Manager.
