Are you an ambitious and experienced curriculum leader with a passion for technical education and student success? If so, this is your opportunity to join Sandwell College as the Head of Curriculum for our Young Professionals Academy on a full-time 12 Month Fixed-Term-Contract for maternity cover.
This is position offering a unique chance to lead and grow our forward-thinking academy, including the delivery of T-Level qualifications, while building meaningful relationships with employers and the wider community.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate:

  • A relevant degree and teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE or Certificate in Education)
  • A proven track record of outstanding teaching and curriculum delivery
  • Experience leading teams, managing staff, and driving curriculum improvements
  • Strong knowledge of current educational policy, Ofsted framework, and T-Level implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience working with awarding bodies and industry partners

Desirable attributes include experience in curriculum co-design, partnership engagement, and enhancing the reputation of academic programmes within the local and business community.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As Head of Curriculum, you will provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Young Professionals Academy. Your role will focus on delivering high-quality, industry-aligned programmes, developing strong partnerships with employers, and promoting a student-centred learning environment that fosters achievement and well-being.

Your key duties will include:

  • Developing and implementing an innovative curriculum, particularly focused on T-Levels
  • Leading curriculum teams and overseeing staff recruitment, development, and performance
  • Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, quality assurance, and student progress tracking
  • Co-designing curriculum with employers to meet industry demands and support student employability
  • Representing the academy internally and externally to raise its profile and strengthen partnerships
  • Supporting enrolment, recruitment, and departmental planning activities
