THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as Head of our Digital Engineering Department. This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, growth, and performance of the department. As the Head of Department for Digital Engineering, you will drive business development, manage teams, and ensure successful delivery of digital engineering projects. You will play a key role in transforming the digital engineering landscape of the company while maintaining the high standards and quality that Murphy Geospatial is known for.
Reporting to the relevant Directors, the successful candidate will be based out of our Watford office, with the option for hybrid working.

Responsibilities

WHAT WILL I BE DOING IN MY NEW ROLE?

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of laser scanning surveyors, BIM/CAD technicians, and digital experts within the Digital Engineering Department.
  • Take a leadership role in cascading the company’s culture, mission, and values throughout the department
  • Manage successful delivery of digital engineering projects, ensuring proper scope, timelines, and client engagement from start to invoicing.
  • Allocate resources efficiently, address issues, and optimize the estimating strategy.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, generating future opportunities.
  • Identify sales opportunities by establishing contacts with potential clients within the target market leading to the development of a pipeline of new opportunities that meet with the business strategy and expand the digital engineering services offered by the department. (e.g cross selling)
  • Oversee subcontractor projects, approving invoicing and maintaining efficiency.
  • Lead the team by providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuously exploring new digital engineering solutions to improve processes, reduce costs, and drive efficiency.
  • Support project planning, ensuring resources are effectively utilized and schedules are met.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safety-conscious work environment.
  • Monitor financial performance, manage KPIs, and create annual budgets for the department.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

  • Ability to work out of our Watford office
  • Possess a strong background in digital engineering, surveying, or related fields, with a deep understanding of digital construction processes and technologies.
  • Degree in surveying (or related field), Master’s degree beneficial
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Training – SPA, RAMS, lone working etc
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, managing teams and delivering complex digital engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of digital engineering tools and systems, including BIM, Laser Scanning, 3D modeling, and related technologies.
  • Valid UK manual drivers’ licenceAbility to travel nationwide when required
