Through our partnership with the University of Melbourne, you’ll guide and inspire final-year DVM students, shaping the next generation of veterinarians while leading the ECC team to deliver outstanding patient and client care. As Head of Department, you’ll also work alongside specialists in Surgery, Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Anaesthesia, and Diagnostic Imaging, playing a central role in a hospital where multidisciplinary teamwork drives innovation, learning, and lasting change. What you’ll do Lead and grow our ECC team, fostering a supportive and high-performing culture. Deliver best-practice emergency care while mentoring interns, ECC vets, and final-year DVM students. Shape departmental strategy, ensuring sustainable growth, efficiency, and service excellence. Build systems that promote high clinical standards, exceptional student outcomes, and team engagement Work closely with the hospital leadership team on strategic initiatives and hospital growth What we’re looking for A veterinarian registered (or eligible for registration) in Victoria. Memberships in Emergency & Critical Care (MANZCVS) are preferred but not essential Leadership skills with the ability to engage and inspire teams. A passion for education and mentoring, experience teaching students or junior clinicians is highly valued. Commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.
