Job Summary:
General Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Management Team and collaborate with various departments within the business, instilling best practices in engineering and manufacturing engineering activities (Concurrent Engineering)
We are looking for someone to drive the development and improvement of products and processes to improve efficiency across engineering into production. Leading agile approach to be first to market with new products and driving down cost with design for manufacture.
Key Relationships:
The key relationships in the role are working with the Head of Engineering, Head of Operations, and Head of Supply Chain to drive improvement through the build ensuring design for manufacturing.
The role involves leading a team of Engineers (Technical Liaison and Manufacturing Engineering).
Key responsibilities:
· Lead with the Development of technical designs in a timely manner
· Support the generation of technical outputs i..e detailed SOP and designs
· Escalate and manage programme risks and issues
· Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
· Produce written reports and make presentations, contribute to the monthly board pack and other regular meetings and reviews
· Chair engineering gate review.
· Undertake and lead with continuous training and development
· Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems, driving improvement and efficiencies
· Identify product improvement opportunities i.e. Design for Manufacture
· Ensure an effective interface with other departmental is maintained i.e. production, supply chain, marketing and sales
· Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required
· Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments
· Conduct risk assessments of product and processes and tasks in the department
· Mentor key engineers and identify requirements for skills development
· Motivate and coach the team to operational success
· Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware
· Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
· Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan, including management
