JOB DESCRIPTION

As our Head of HR Employee Relations, you will be part of
our HR Senior Management Team, working alongside other
Heads of Department, and reporting to one of the Deputy HR
Directors.
You will lead the Employee Relations team of 14 people to
deliver a high level of service to our COPFS colleagues and
contribute to the achievement of our People Strategy and
strategic aims.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate a strong background in handling complex ER cases and are capable of making
informed decisions with minimal guidance or support, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions and grievance procedures.
You should possess strong leadership skills, providing clear direction and accountability within a team and have experience
developing and mentoring others, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Confidence and assertiveness will be critical to your ability to influence and persuade stakeholders, applying analytical thinking to
assess situations, identifying risks and developing effective solutions.
Applicants who can demonstrate empathy and understanding and apply a trauma informed approach to support employees
effectively would be beneficial.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Join us as our Head of Employee Relations and lead a dynamic team during an exciting period of transformation within our People Directorate group. As a key member of our Senior HR Management team, reporting directly to a Deputy HR Director, you will have the opportunity to shape and influence our People Strategy.
You will deliver exceptional service and drive innovative solutions to complex people management challenges. Building effective and collaborative relationships across COPFS, including with Senior Leaders and Trade Union colleagues, will be crucial to your success.
We’re looking for applicants who have a strong background in complex Employee Relations cases, leadership and stakeholder influence. Analytical skills, empathy and a trauma informed approach will be essential.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE

• Lead your team to provide effective and efficient services,
creating a culture of continuous improvement, openness,
accountability and collaboration
• Drive and implement, in person and through others,
delivery of the People Strategy and other delivery plans
• Oversee, or directly lead on, complex and high-profile
employee relations cases, ensuring positive outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and review of HR policies
and processes to support continuous improvement.

ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Promote continuous professional development in your
teams, driving high performance by setting clear
expectations, managing performance, and building
capability across the team
• Develop innovative ways to deliver solutions to a range of
people management challenges and improve learning
across COPFS
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with
senior leaders, managers, and Trade Union colleagues
across COPFS.
• Contribute to the development and review of HR policies
and processes to support continuous improvement.
