OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE As part of the Flutter Tech Global Services function, the Head of Engineering will serve as the in-country leader for Enterprise Technology in Flutter Entertainment India, leading approximately 40 professionals across HR Technology, Procurement Technology, Data, Assurance, Delivery, and Test. This role focuses on three core pillars: providing in-country leadership and operational excellence for the India-based Enterprise Technology team; developing and executing the Enterprise Technology Data strategy; and re-establishing and leading a multi-function Test team that provides test capabilities across all Enterprise Technology functions. You will work with brands across the Flutter Group, ensuring requirements are understood and promoting knowledge share. You must be effective at articulating business opportunities and demonstrating commercial value. The role requires working with cross-functional global teams, with interdependencies across partner teams and architecture/engineering teams. The right candidate will have experience with enterprise-scale transformation projects, coupled with deep expertise in data strategy and test engineering. This requires a collaborative approach, strong technical understanding, and a passion for transforming organisations using modern cloud technologies and data platforms. KEY RESPOBSIBILITIES In-Country Leadership: Serve as the senior Enterprise Technology leader in India, providing strategic direction and operational leadership to approximately 40 team members across multiple functions. Build, develop, and retain high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Form an integral part of the Enterprise Technology leadership team, contributing to and delivering the Enterprise IT Strategy. Coordinate day-to-day tasks and projects, ensuring work is prioritised and delivered using agile methodologies. Maintain budget control, asset management, and capacity planning for India-based resources. Data Strategy & Delivery: Lead the development and execution of the Enterprise Technology Data strategy, defining the vision, roadmap, and objectives. Drive data platform initiatives supporting enterprise functions including Human Resources, Finance, and Procurement. Establish data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. Work with Enterprise Data and AI platforms, leveraging technologies such as Databricks to deliver business value. Partner with architecture teams to ensure adherence to data best practices and governance. Multi-Function Test Team: Reestablish and lead the Test team as a centre of excellence providing test capabilities across all Enterprise Technology functions. Define test strategy, frameworks, and methodologies to support quality assurance across all Enterprise Technology domains. Build test automation capabilities and establish testing processes and standards. Develop the test team's capabilities through training and adoption of modern testing tools and practices. Cross-Functional Responsibilities: Develop function-specific strategies with clear roadmaps and measurable objectives. Work closely with Service Management to ensure satisfactory service and operational support. Maintain close relationships with Security teams to ensure solutions meet governance requirements. Promote continuous improvement through service enhancement and automation. Maintain a commercial focus and explore opportunities for alignment across the group. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE Essential: Senior technology leadership role within a fast-paced online/eCommerce organisation. Proven track record leading large, diverse engineering teams (30+ people) across multiple disciplines. Deep expertise in data strategy, data platforms, and data governance with demonstrable experience delivering enterprise-scale data solutions. Strong experience establishing and leading test engineering functions, including test automation and quality frameworks. Extensive experience with Finance, HCM, and Procurement technologies. Experience with Enterprise Data and AI platforms; Databricks experience highly desirable. Knowledge of Identity tools (Okta, Sailpoint), collaboration tools (Slack, Atlassian), and service tools (ServiceNow, Jira Service Manager). Understanding of development/platform tooling such as GitHub and Kafka. Awareness of AWS Cloud and Security architecture, including IT Security compliance and regulatory standards. Understanding of Service Management and Service Lifecycle frameworks. Skills & Abilities: Strong communication skills with ability to engage executive leadership.
