  • Line manage the senior engineering resources in MRF I, II and III, delivering performance management by creating an environment where lateral thinking is encouraged, productivity is enabled, and communication is pro-active.
  • Provide technical guidance to extend the team’s engineering expertise to establish the Division as the UK’s leading facility for experimental research on irradiated materials.
  • Manage the completion of the commissioning (and State 2 conversion, where relevant) of all Engineering (instruments, ancilliary plant and utilities, robotic and other remote handling equipment, C&I etc) in MRF I .
  • Leverage expertise (including machining capabilities and the jobcarding system) in other UKAEA units to extend the engineering resource available for MRF I-III engineering delivery.
  • Deliver a working suite of hot cells by the end of 2025, comprising i) the site acceptance tests in Q2 to close out the £9m Hot Cell Extension project and ii) refitting and integration of the original 4 MRF hot cells (~£5m) in Q3,4.
  • Manage the launch of MRF II (~£12m) via creation and oversight of a civils+engineering+science project team for conversion of J41 over a 36 month timeframe.
  • Manage the launch of MRF III (~£12m) via creation and oversight of a civils+engineering+science project team for the Irradiated Magnet Materials research facility at Uni Durham over 2025-2027.
  • Create management systems and implement Systems Engineering tools and processes to deliver transparent governance and legislative compliance for the Division’s engineering resource, and oversee machine certification work, where relevant, aligned with the Office of the Chief Engineer at UKAEA.
