Key Responsibilities

  • • Lead and develop the engineering function across Software Development, Data Engineering and QA.• Own the engineering strategy, technical direction and delivery of critical technology across the firm's financial services and trading platforms.• Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team, supporting recruitment, development, mentoring and progression.• Provide technical leadership across architecture, software development, data platforms, testing and system integration.• Work closely with senior technology and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.• Oversee the development of applications, APIs, microservices and data platforms supporting financial services and trading.• Establish and maintain strong engineering standards around code quality, testing, deployment and documentation.• Drive the adoption of modern development practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, cloud technologies and DevOps.• Ensure close collaboration between developers, data engineers and QA throughout the development lifecycle.• Help shape the long-term architecture and technology roadmap as the organisation continues its modernisation programme.• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, creating a strong culture of ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • The RoleYou’ll lead a single engineering squad of around 8–12 people, working alongside a Product Manager and a team of predominantly Software Engineers (Java, Kotlin)
  • This isn't a role for someone looking to spend their time coding or making technical decisions. Instead, you'll provide the leadership, coaching and support that enables the team to perform at its best.
  • You'll work closely with Product and other Engineering leaders, helping the team establish priorities, remove blockers and continuously improve how they operate.
  • You'll need to be comfortable having difficult conversations, managing conflict and addressing performance issues when required, while maintaining an empathetic and supportive approach.
