Responsibilities
  • Lead, inspire and shape the English curriculum across KS2–KS4
  • Support students with tailored interventions to bridge gaps and help them access an age-appropriate curriculum
  • Collaborate closely with our Primary team to ensure smooth transitions and consistency
  • Guide and support non-specialist teachers to deliver high-quality English teaching
  • Help our students find their voice — and confidence — through reading and language
    Main Duties – Quality of Education

Follow the school’s guidance on Teaching and Learning and ensure you:

  • Plan and deliver effective lessons that help every student build knowledge, understanding and skills — working collaboratively with colleagues as needed.
  • Take lead responsibility for an area of the curriculum, supporting SLT with curriculum design, qualifications and staff management in your subject area.
  • Embed reading, writing and communication throughout the curriculum.
  • Use secure subject knowledge and shared pedagogy to plan learning that keeps students engaged and challenges their thinking.
  • Organise learning outside the classroom — including community visits, school trips and other enrichment activities.
