Head of Event Operations - Maternity Cover Application Deadline: 19 June 2026 Department: Commercial Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract Location: London Reporting To: Gail Williams Description This is a 12 month Maternity Cover Position covering the Head of Event Operations. You will take charge and manage a portfolio of events, from concept through to delivery. Reporting to the Director of Event Operations you will also manage a team, including Operations Manager(s) who in turn will manage their own portfolio, and will be responsible for ensuring that all of the events are delivered effectively, efficiently and within the budget set. This includes new Managers who will need additional support to ensure they are adapting to their role and effectively supporting their own teams Ensuring all events are delivered effectively, efficiently and within the budget set Forecasting, determining and keeping an accurate record of event spend Negotiate and contract venues for conferences, dinners, drinks receptions and awards ceremonies. Including signing off the teams and your own contracts up to £50,000 Produce and file important documentation pertaining to each event including (but not limited to) timelines, contracts, travel plans, checklists and supplier’s details Produce proposals to be delivered to the wider Events team for flagship or as otherwise determined events Determining and keeping an accurate record of event spend on each of our events Demonstrate effective communication with sales, editorial, sponsorship, production and other Centellic departments Taking responsibility for handling issues and trouble shooting any problems, both from the office and onsite ensuring you have a wide overview of team performance and event status to ensure all problems are dealt with in a timely manner Leading on the running of the portfolio’s flagship events, negotiating high value contracts and complex event management Work with the Director of Event Operations on quarterly cost reconciliation Work with the Director of Event Operations to report quarterly event cost forecasts vs budget where necessary Conduct pre and post event evaluations with stakeholders from across the division and wider business Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Highly organised, and an ability to work to tight targets and deadlines Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to build rapport Ability to communicate effectively with C-level audience Excellent negotiation skills Proven management skills At least 8-10 years’ experience and proven track record of managing a team and delivering first class paid delegate B2B events and conference Benefits Our people are our most valuable asset, as such, we offer a wide range of benefits to help ensure that all are supported: Start of employment: Eye care Employee Assistance Programme A day off for your birthday After 3 months employment: Pension (4% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution) After 4 months employment: Life assurance After probation: Cycle to work scheme Season ticket loan £350 annual wellbeing allowance to contribute to gym memberships or fitness classes Puregym access Perks at work platform access After 1 year service: Private healthcare Additional Perks: Company socials Access to Employee Affinity Networks Mentoring scheme Volunteering Day Mortgage Advice Work from anywhere (2 weeks) Generous parental leave We are committed to making our organisation an inclusive, respectful & engaging place to work with a culture shaped by our core values that promote equality, collaboration & respect in everything we do.
