Description

About the job

Head of Finance Operations | Semi-Conductor Unicorn | King's Cross, London | up to £110,000

Harmonic is partnering with a London-headquartered semiconductor unicorn already working across three countries, moving from R&D into full-scale manufacturing with demand well ahead of supply. You’d be the first Finance Operations hire, with your own team, equity and a clear route into wider finance leadership as the business scales.

Its hardware depends on a large number of components, many of them custom made by suppliers around the world. That makes the finance operation behind it high volume, multi-entity and multi-currency, and it needs building properly now.

The RoleThis is the first Finance Operations hire, reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the FP&A Lead. You will own the day-to-day financial engine: procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, payables, receivables and the month-end close they feed.

The role is as much design as delivery. You will build the processes, controls and systems that let a high-volume operation run with minimal manual effort, and a FinOps Analyst will join your team. Hands-on from day one, with a clear path into broader finance leadership.

  • Key ResponsibilitiesOwn procure-to-pay and order-to-cash end to end, including supplier payments, receivables and payroll coordination across entities.
  • Run the month-end close: reconciliations, journals and accruals across a multi-entity, multi-currency group.
  • Design scalable finance workflows, approval chains and internal controls built for high transaction volumes.
  • Lead the implementation and optimisation of finance systems, including the ERP and the AP, spend and expense tools being introduced.
  • Work with procurement, engineering and supply chain to improve data quality from purchase order through to the books.
  • Give the Head of Finance clear reporting on actuals, burn, vendor spend and cost centres.
  • Prepare data for audit, statutory filings and compliance, and support VAT and R&D claims with external advisors.
  • Build out and lead the FinOps function, starting with a FinOps Analyst.

  • Essential Experience5+ years in finance operations, accounting or financial control.
  • Hands-on ownership of AP, AR and the close in a high-volume transactional environment.
  • A track record of designing finance processes or implementing finance systems from the ground up.
  • Strong technical grounding in bookkeeping, reconciliations and controls.
  • Comfortable building where little exists yet, at start-up pace.

  • Desirable ExperienceA fintech, hardware, manufacturing or complex product business background.
  • NetSuite, or modern AP and spend platforms.
  • Multi-entity and multi-currency experience, and exposure to UK, US or Canadian VAT and R&D tax credits.
  • Experience working with US businesses or teams.
