Role Highlights


  • Lead The Australian Ballet’s Finance function, leveraging new systems and a recent team structure change, as we strive for excellence in the ‘Business of Ballet’ which befits the artistic excellence on our stages.
  • Take operational finance to being a strategic enabler with a robust level of financial control and sophisticated approach to data - to streamline business processes and support the business with comprehensive data insights.

What You’ll Be Doing


  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team across finance operations, financial control, payroll, FP&A and external reporting, to create a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
  • Lead the development of an outstanding business partnering model, which collaborates with the business to drive optimal performance and decision-making.
  • Maintain a strong financial control framework, and ensure the integrity of ledgers, financial and compliance reporting, insights and business advice.
  • Oversee an efficient, accurate and insightful FP&A function, which delivers budgeting, forecasting, management and Board reporting.
  • Lead payroll for the Group, ensuring robust compliance and continuity, and supporting current development of integrated and efficient processes.
  • Lead a strong systems transformation, data analytics and continuous improvement agenda for Finance and associated business processes, to achieve and remain at the forefront of evolution of the accounting profession.

What Experience You’ll Need


  • CA, CPA or equivalent with senior finance leadership experience in the NFP/charity sector, across financial control, transactional processing, payroll, FP&A and external reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience is delivering innovative system transformation and business process redesign.
  • Considerable data science knowledge, including effective data structures, data governance, integrations, automation and business intelligence solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate teams, with demonstrated experience in building collaborative team culture, and a track record of supporting the development and career pathways of team members.
  • Strong preference for experience within the performing arts sector, understanding the complexity of a balanced business model and the elements that are specific to the industry in strong financial management.
