HEAD OF FRANCHISE MANAGEMENT

Our game Brookhaven is one of the most recognized gaming IPs globally, with over 500 million hours of engagement per month, 1.5+ billion play sessions monthly, and more than 130 million monthly active players. Despite this vast reach, Brookhaven’s monetization is currently limited to in-game revenue on Roblox—yet there is significant demand from players to engage with the brand beyond the game.
We are seeking a visionary Head of Franchise Management to lead the expansion and elevation of Brookhaven’s intellectual property and universe, enhancing its iconic status to enable off-Roblox growth. The Head of Franchise Management will collaborate closely with our Brookhaven game team, spearhead the creation of Voldex-owned YouTube content (working alongside an internal hire that the Head of Franchise Management will be responsible for recruiting and leading, as well as external animation production studio(s) that the Head of Franchise Management will be expected to select and partner closely with), and partner with popular YouTubers who feature Brookhaven (currently one of the most popular Roblox games on YouTube).
Once we have elevated Brookhaven’s intellectual property to become more iconic, and in parallel with IP development work for select categories that Brookhaven’s current intellectual property is ready to enter, the Head of Franchise Management will also establish a licensing program, potentially hiring a licensing manager and partnering with external licensing agencies to achieve this.
Ultimately, the Head of Franchise Management will be expected to transform Brookhaven into a global entertainment franchise with diverse revenue streams beyond Roblox.
This is a leadership role within our executive team, and the Head of Franchise Management will be expected to work hands-on with a small team (~2-3 people). While Brookhaven is currently our only title with significant franchise potential, we are an acquisitive company, and this role will have the opportunity to lead franchise development for future acquisitions as opportunities arise. This role will have full accountability for creating and growing Voldex’s outlicensing revenue stream.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

IP Building

  • Work with the Brookhaven game team to enhance the game to create and nurture iconic elements that can be commercialized outside of Roblox
  • Develop and execute on Brookhaven’s video content strategy to enable improved storytelling and create/nurture iconic IP elements
  • Hire and lead a creative story designer/showrunner to enable improved creation of iconic elements through both game and video content
  • Collaboratively articulate what the Brookhaven brand is, build a style guide, and ensure all licensees and our internal teams act in alignment with the Brookhaven brand
  • Deeply understand the Brookhaven audience through both quantitative and qualitative analysis, and share insights about the Brookhaven audience with the broader company

Commercial

  • Develop & execute a short, medium, and long-term licensing strategy to expand Brookhaven’s IP into new categories and create new revenue streams
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships with leading licensees, retailers, etc.
  • Establish and lead partnerships with licensing agencies to represent Brookhaven as applicable
  • Hire and lead a Licensing Manager to support IP outlicensing efforts
  • Oversee licensing & merchandising relationships to ensure Brookhaven-branded products are high-quality, authentic, and aligned with the brand’s identity
  • Manage multiple license vectors simultaneously, such as toys, school supplies, apparel, and more
  • Fully own and have commercial responsibility for Voldex’s franchise and outlicensing P&L; collaborate with finance team

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior contributions to creating iconic intellectual property that was successfully exploited outside of its initial medium
  • Significant experience with leading a franchise with a significant YouTube or videogame presence
  • Proven understanding of YouTube content creation and storytelling including content creation pipeline, character arcs, and narrative structure
  • High understanding of the under-18 audience
  • Proven track record of defining an IP’s DNA/style guide/strategy/etc. essentially from scratch to enable franchise expansion
  • Deep understanding of what makes a brand or IP iconic, commercializable outside of its initial medium
  • Proven track record of expanding an IP from one medium to multiple categories
  • Experience leading and executing franchise growth across multiple verticals, such as toys, video content, books apparel, etc. in a startup environment
  • Managerial experience, with the ability to effectively hire and manage individual contributors.
  • Strong track record of successful dealmaking with major brands, studios, and licensing partners
  • Deep knowledge of brand strategy and world-building, ensuring Brookhaven’s expansion remains authentic and engaging
  • Proven experience growing an IP outlicensing business from $0 to eight figures in revenue through monetization through IP licensing
  • Strong ability to understand qualitative and quantitative data
