The Global Head of IT & Security role is responsible for being a strong leader in bringing the global entities of Embross together regarding IT operations as well as Infrastructure, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Networking, and more. The incumbent will be expected to manage the IT Ops and Cloud specialists that are available in various Embross offices globally, managing 24x7x365 support for IT and Cloud hosting, setting up best practices, and being the central contact for all IT-related activities and escalations for both internal and external customers.
You will also work with Embross’ Software Engineering teams to deploy releases of new software applications and assist customers in deploying applications, as well as investigating and troubleshooting environmental issues, suggesting best practices of server or cloud environment set-up to customers that require assistance and advice, responding to customers’ requests for Cybersecurity Questionnaires, etc.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Manage a growing Cloud and IT Ops (CIT) team where the reports are located globally in various Embross office locations (i.e. USA, Canada, France, India, UK, Australia, etc.)
- Plan and enforce how to support internal and external customers with 24x7x365 IT support and operations
- Identify and resolve internal issues of IT that may be present at Embross
- Bring Cybersecurity and Network best practices into the organization to fortify Embross infrastructure
- Design, develop, manage, configure, and maintain cloud services and components and on-premises server infrastructures, and enable safe and secure enterprise-wide use of highly available, scalable, and performance-optimized systems
- Work with Software Engineering teams to deploy backend, middleware, and web applications and manage DevOps & CI/CD availability
- Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure stable uptime
- Support Linux, Windows, and Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) environments
- Evaluate new technology options and vendor products and propose new architecture and process improvements
- Be a technical advisor to customers and help with infrastructure deployments for customers
- Act as a Cybersecurity Professional to lead, train and guide our employees at Embross in being equipped with correct knowledge to protect from cyber threats
- Know how to Produce network and server architecture diagrams and documentation at customer-facing, professional level
- Know how to Maintain of SQL (i.e. MySQL, MS SQL Server) and non-SQL (i.e. MongoDB) databases
- Ensure critical system security
- Support security initiatives, update and maintain information security policies
- Lead the development and execution of disaster recovery plans and ensure that these are documented, tested, and maintained
- Lead the Procurement and management of IT devices for internal uses by Embross employees
- Know how to maintain and perform reimaging of operating systems on laptops and other PC machines where needed
- Take ownership of Asset Inventory Management
- Know how to perform troubleshooting to resolve technical challenges for customers, across infrastructure and application domains related to OS, Networking or Database.
- Oversee of providing level 3 production support, meeting customer SLAs, and managing updates and communication with them in case of issues.
Who You are
- Post-Secondary Degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required
- Minimum 10 years of direct work experience in managing systems, networks, and database infrastructure.
- At least 3 years of experience managing and leading a team of IT Ops, preferably with experience of managing teams located overseas
- Experience with the creation of network and server architecture diagrams
- Strong understanding of overall cloud infrastructure (such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
- Familiarity with Windows, Linux, vSphere
- Experience with cloud & server monitoring and patching
- Admin Experience with HTTP Server – IIS and Apache
- Admin Experience with Web Application Servers
- Must have – Apache Tomcat
- Good to have – Red Hat JBoss, IBM WebSphere WAS or similar
- Knowledgeable of SW/HW load balancers like HAProxy, F5
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines – Jenkins and CircleCI
- Admin Experience with databases
- Must have – MS SQL Server, MySQL
- Good to have – Oracle, IBM DB2, MongoDB, Postgres
- Experience with Network Environment Admin including LAN, VoIP, DNS, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, Switches (HP1), routers (SonicWall), WIFI Controller (Rokus), VPN, VLAN policies
- Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management using LDAP/AD, mail server (SMTP/POP/IMAP Services), data protection, encryption, certificate and key management, SSL, Java Web Security
- Experience with disaster recovery planning
- Experience working with and managing external partners/customers
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills in English
