Description

For our headquarters in the Amsterdam area the GLS Group HQ is looking for

HEAD OF GROUP PROCUREMENT

Location: Spaklerweg, Amsterdam
Join GLS, a prominent player in the global parcel delivery market, where innovation meets passion for service. Our journey is fueled by a commitment to meeting our customers’ evolving needs while staying ahead in the fast-paced world of parcel delivery.
Based in the vibrant Amsterdam area, our Group headquarters serve as the heart of our operations, spanning over 20 countries. With a strong local presence in Europe and subsidiaries in Canada and the USA’s West Coast, GLS seamlessly connects customers and communities with millions of parcels and stories every day.
To date, each of our national companies in Europe and North America has purchased on the basis of local processes and typically in their home market with local suppliers. We now plan to complement this setup with a new central procurement function that will initially focus on strategic aspects at an international level (such as procurement governance, international supplier relationships, selected framework agreements, etc.).
Therefore, we are seeking a talented Head of Group Procurement to join our dynamic team at the GLS Global Headquarters in Amsterdam.
In this role, you will lead this new central procurement function and report to the Group CFO.

Responsibilities
  • You develop, lead, and implement GLS Group-wide procurement policies and standards, ensuring alignment across countries and functions
  • You define the scope of GLS Group procurement responsibility and set strategic direction for procurement activities
  • You establish, lead, and coordinate a global procurement community, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of best practices among procurement colleagues across countries
  • You identify and leverage GLS Group-wide procurement potential, driving synergies, volume bundling, and cost savings across markets
  • You establish and implement a lead country approach for selected products and services, assigning procurement leadership to specific countries to optimize sourcing and supplier management
  • You lead procurement governance at the Group level, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations
  • You act as a partner to country procurement leads, guiding and aligning local procurement activities with Group objectives
  • You build and maintain relationships with key strategic suppliers, representing Group interests at a senior level
  • You work closely with other GLS functions at Group level (such as Group Finance and Group IT), enabling cross-functional collaboration, and supporting integrated decision-making across the organization
