The Specialty Personal Insurance team is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Personal Insurance – High Net Worth to join their dynamic group! Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Specialty Personal Insurance, this role holds full accountability for the profit and loss performance of Aviva Canada’s High Net Worth Personal Insurance division.
In this leadership position, you will drive the profitability and growth of High Net Worth personal insurance products, with strategic ownership, influence, and collaboration across key functional areas—including national service, actuarial, pricing, analytics, underwriting, operations, sales/distribution, marketing, communications, claims, IT, and finance.
Additionally, you will serve as a primary contact for strategic High Net Worth partners, fostering strong relationships and identifying new opportunities to enhance business outcomes.
You are a highly polished individual with a strong business perspective that focuses on the end-to-end functions and performance of the business. Partnership with pricing, underwriting, analytics/data science, as well as direct involvement with leaders both inside and outside the organization are key in defining and implementing strategies to optimize performance, identifying growth opportunities, prioritizing work, to meet financial objectives.
You will also be responsible for premium revenues of approximately $165M with expectations of double-digit profitable growth year over year.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the business owner, to drive profitable growth and competitiveness of the business across the country ensuring the operating model supports the overall business
  • Develop and implement a robust business strategy to propel the business forward through profitable growth focused on data and insights
  • Act as a general manager of the business to fully understand all issues and opportunities, and to develop plans, objectives and strategies for the business while communicating, collaborating, influencing and driving all functional areas of the organization to achieve optimal outcomes for the organization
  • Build strong relationships of trust and mutual respect with colleagues. Foster an environment of continuous engagement with pricing, underwriting, business insights, operations, sales/distribution, marketing, communications, claims, IT, finance and analytical and actuarial functions
  • Develop keen insights on the competitive environment and use this information to fuel actions within the business
  • Collaborate with the Broker Distribution network to develop regional growth plans, cultivate existing and new relationships
  • Work with Marketing and Communications to develop a marketing strategy that strengthens our brand as a market of choice for partners and customers
  • Craft go-to-market strategies and messaging with sales/distribution and marketing, when changes in pricing and/or products are likely to affect brokers or customers
  • Oversee and evaluate the financial performance of the High Net Worth business, reporting monthly in Performance Management Meetings
  • Identify the root cause of results and implement initiatives to drive positive performance
  • Stay up to date with industry, economic and legislative developments and recommend changes in strategies or procedures

What you’ll bring:

  • University degree and/or College Diploma specializing in Business
  • Advance degree and/or professional qualification preferred
  • Experience in High Net Worth P&C Management and/or Strategy strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience in the P&C industry with a proven track record of success
  • Established credibility in the industry and/or marketplace.
  • Considerable experience delivering profitable growth
  • Experience leading leaders in a matrix structure
