Description

Transform lives, every single day
Do you want a career that means more? At Anglicare Sydney, we bring the strength, the support and the strategy to make it happen.
We’re a well-respected not-for-profit that’s been serving society’s most vulnerable for more than 160 years. Each year, we achieve life-changing outcomes for the 40,000+ people who rely on our person-centred support. And now, we’re extending our reach and impact even further.
As Head of Human Resources – Community & Mission, you’ll be key to our mission to enrich lives and strengthen communities. You’ll support a deeply impactful business unit that delivers vital community services including housing, food and financial assistance, chaplaincy, and mental health programs. You will work with passionate, values-driven leaders spread across Sydney and regional NSW, empowering them to build strong, engaged teams and deliver person-centred care to those who need it most.
Your opportunity
Reporting to our General Manager, Human Resources & Employee Relations, and working closely with the Community & Mission Group Executive, you will lead the strategic direction and delivery of People & Culture services tailored to the unique needs of this business unit. You will provide expert HR partnering and practical solutions that strengthen leadership, workforce engagement, and capability—across a complex and geographically dispersed environment.

With integrity and resilience, you will:

  • Align HR strategy with business goals, partnering with a broad range of leaders on workforce planning, talent, and leadership development.
  • Lead People & Culture initiatives that support frontline community programs and enhance employee experience, safety, and service delivery.
  • Coach and enable geographically dispersed managers through change and transformation, building HR capability in challenging service environments.
  • Lead HR functions including recruitment, workforce engagement, performance, and talent management across a diverse and mission-aligned workforce.
  • Drive organisational change, track HR metrics, manage IR matters, and ensure compliance with Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • Support and lead the People & Culture BP team to deliver consistent, high-quality support and guidance to managers and staff across varied locations.

What you’ll bring
You are a strategic and compassionate HR leader with a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards of supporting frontline community services. You thrive in complex, multi-site environments and are skilled in partnering with dispersed leadership teams to deliver strong people outcomes.

You will also need:

  • Extensive experience leading HR functions (at least 10 years) with relevant HR or IR qualifications (postgraduate preferred).
  • Experience in community services, not-for-profit or multi-site organisations (advantageous).
  • Strong background in the development of tailored HR programs that add value.
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial relations including EA negotiations and union engagement.
  • Proven success in driving change, building leadership capability, and delivering practical, values-aligned HR solutions.
