Description
We are currently seeking an exceptional Head of HR to lead our people operations and build a world-class HR function in Montreal. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for supporting 800+ employees across the organization, with a focus on creating an engaging, compliant, and high-performing workplace culture. As Head of HR, you will build and lead the Montreal-based HR team from the ground up, implement and optimize our HRIS infrastructure using Rippling, and serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on all people-related matters. This role requires someone who thrives in dynamic environments, excels at resolving complex employee relations issues, and is passionate about creating exceptional employee experiences. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Development Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing HR team in Montreal to support our growing workforce Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and workflows within the HR function Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team Serve as an escalation point for complex employee relations matters Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution Manage sensitive and emotionally intense employee relations issues with empathy, discretion, and professionalism Develop and implement de-escalation strategies to resolve workplace conflicts quickly and fairly Coach managers on handling difficult conversations and performance management Ensure consistent application of policies while maintaining flexibility and compassion Compliance & Policy Management Partner with our external HR advisors to ensure compliance with US employment law and regulations Quickly develop working knowledge of US HR requirements (support and training provided) Maintain and update HR policies to reflect best practices and legal requirements Ensure Canadian employment standards compliance for local operations Employee Engagement & Culture Lead CPP’s bi-annual employee engagement survey Analyze survey data and develop actionable insights and improvement plans Partner with leadership to implement initiatives that drive engagement and retention Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization HRIS & Technology Management Lead the optimization, and ongoing management of Rippling, our core HRIS platform Ensure data integrity, system efficiency, and user adoption across the organization Leverage HR technology to streamline processes, improve analytics, and enhance employee experience Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement Strategic HR Leadership Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership on workforce planning and organizational development Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives Provide data-driven insights on workforce trends, retention, and engagement Lead change management initiatives as the organization evolves Qualifications Required 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role Proven track record of building and scaling HR teams Strong experience with HRIS platforms (Rippling experience is a strong asset) Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, emotionally charged situations Expert-level conflict resolution and de-escalation capabilities Experience conducting and analyzing employee engagement surveys Willingness and ability to quickly learn US employment law and HR compliance requirements Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills Excellent communication skills in English (French language skills are an asset) Preferred Knowledge of US employment law and HR practices Background in fast-paced, high-growth environments CHRP, CHRL, or equivalent HR certification Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field Experience supporting multi-location or international organizations Experience with change management and organizational transformation Key Competencies Emotional Intelligence: Exceptional ability to read situations, empathize with diverse perspectives, and respond appropriately Problem-Solving: Creative and pragmatic approach to resolving complex people challenges Leadership: Ability to inspire, develop, and lead high-performing teams Resilience: Thrives under pressure and maintains composure in challenging situations Strategic Thinking: Balances tactical execution with long-term strategic planning Collaboration: Builds strong partnerships across all levels of the organization Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to pivot quickly as needs evolve What We Offer Opportunity to build and shape the HR function at a growing organization Flexible hybrid work model (3 days in Montreal office, 2 days remote) Collaborative, innovative culture Competitive compensation and benefits package Employee perks at our MedSpa locations
