Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE:

As the Head of Learner Support, you will lead and manage a team of professional practitioners across all types of support, including SEND, ALS, Maths, and English. Your leadership will ensure that learners, including those with learning difficulties, disabilities, dyslexia, and sensory impairments, receive high-quality, tailored support across Hull College.
You will oversee a wide range of responsibilities, ensuring compliance with policies, leading inspections, managing budgets, and most importantly, supporting our learners to achieve their full potential. As a key member of the senior team, you will represent the College at audits, inspections, and external events, always striving for excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the assessment and planning of additional learning support for all learners with identified needs.
  • Ensure that learners with SEND achieve outcomes in line with their non-SEN peers.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality ALS support, preparing the team for inspections and audits.
  • Work collaboratively with the Learning Centres and Digital Transformation team to enhance accessibility and study support.
  • Report regularly on KPIs, ensuring effective use of resources and clear, accurate records.
  • Manage a team of specialists, focusing on training, development, and the deployment of support services.
  • Represent the College at public events, ensuring our services meet the diverse needs of our learners.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Foster the development of learning support across FE, HE, apprenticeships, and 14-16 provisions.
  • Work closely with Admissions, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure smooth transitions for learners.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and safeguarding in all aspects of the learner support services.
  • Manage learner disclosure processes and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Support the professional development of staff and contribute to the College’s Business Planning process.
