Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Legal & Compliance to lead its global legal and compliance strategy. This senior leadership position reports directly to the executive team and ensures that legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations are embedded across all areas of the business. Responsibilities Develop and lead the corporate legal strategy in alignment with business objectives. Advise the executive team on mitigating legal and regulatory risks. Manage the acquisition and renewal of iGaming licenses worldwide. Maintain strong relationships with global regulators and ensure adherence to licensing conditions. Oversee corporate governance, including board meetings, shareholder relations, and regulatory filings. Handle disputes, litigation, and arbitration, engaging external counsel as required. Protect and manage intellectual property, including trademarks and patents. Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international laws, including GDPR and data protection requirements. Develop and implement company-wide compliance policies and foster a culture of ethical conduct. Build, lead, and develop a high-performing legal and compliance team. Requirements Must Have Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in corporate law, compliance, and regulatory affairs (iGaming or related industry preferred). Strong knowledge of international regulatory frameworks, including EU, UK, and MGA requirements. Proven track record in managing licensing processes across multiple jurisdictions. Deep understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and compliance best practices. Expertise in GDPR and global data protection laws, including policy development and enforcement. Experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and review (commercial, IP, employment, vendor). Skilled in managing disputes, litigation, and arbitration involving external counsel. Familiarity with intellectual property management (patents, trademarks, copyright). Strong understanding of Maltese labor law. Strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal constraints with commercial needs. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience advising senior executives and boards. Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor, and motivate high-performing teams. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are an asset). High ethical standards and a commitment to promoting a culture of compliance and integrity. Resilience under pressure and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, international environment. Nice to Have Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, or corporate restructuring. Familiarity with fintech, blockchain, or payment services regulations. Knowledge of employment law across multiple jurisdictions. Experience working with publicly listed companies or supporting IPO readiness. Additional legal qualifications or certifications (e.g., compliance, AML, risk management). Experience in change management or organizational transformation. Strong network or prior engagement with iGaming regulators and industry associations.
