The Role As the Head of Legal Technology, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of legal practice at Clayton Utz. Reporting to the Chief Information and Operations Officer and collaborating with senior leaders, you will develop and execute a comprehensive innovation and legal technology strategy that enhances our competitive edge and delivers measurable value to our clients. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a forward-thinking legal technology and innovation strategy aligned with the firm’s vision and market trends. Stay ahead of technological advancements and foster cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation across the firm. Identify, evaluate, and implement new legal technology solutions, including managing a pipeline of innovative tools and operating a “CU Lab.” Lead the procurement, deployment, and customisation of legal tech solutions to meet the firm’s needs. Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on new business models enabled by legal transformation. Collaborate with legal and business services teams to identify pain points and opportunities for transformation. Use best practice methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) to optimise processes and enable legal tech-driven transformation. Lead, develop, build and inspire a high-performing team to deliver on the legal tech transformation strategy. Assist in identifying and managing legal tech-related risks, including compliance with AI and legal tech regulations. Play an advisory role on the firm’s AI Steering Committee and other governance initiatives. Build a network of senior lawyers to incorporate legal expertise into innovation activities. Develop training and change management programs to drive adoption of new technologies and processes. Manage relationships with external vendors and stay abreast of emerging legal tech solutions. Deliver best practice management reports to senior leadership and governance committees on risk, compliance, and innovation progress. Skills & Experience required: Expertise in procuring and deploying legal technology solutions. Deep understanding of legal technology, industry trends, and regulatory developments. Proven experience leading innovation teams and projects. Strong background in change management and team leadership. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organisation. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for driving innovation. Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
