Head of Manufacturing Location - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Work Arrangement - Onsite (5 days per week) This is a rare opportunity to lead one of our most critical and complex manufacturing operations at a time of significant growth and transformation. As Head of Manufacturing, you will take ownership of a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Kuala Lumpur, leading a large and highly skilled workforce while shaping the future of manufacturing excellence across safety, performance, and people leadership. What you’ll do Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture. Strategic Leadership & Business Impact: Provide overall site-level operational leadership, balancing functional priorities with total site performance, risk management, and long-term sustainability. Shape and execute the long-term manufacturing strategy aligned with WMM’s growth objectives. Influence global best practices and contribute to corporate initiatives. Participate actively in site-wide strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Success means driving site performance and supporting business transformation programs. Travel requirements are minimal, with primary focus onsite. Multi-Department Oversight: Lead Manufacturing, Engineering, and Lean teams to deliver world-class performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Ensure production capabilities and infrastructure support current and future business needs, including scalability for growth. Daily activities include team leadership and operational oversight. Operational Excellence & Innovation: Champion Lean principles and continuous improvement culture across all functions. Drive adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and digitalization initiatives to enhance productivity and competitiveness. Success is measured by continuous improvement and innovation adoption. Engineering & Asset Strategy: Oversee engineering operations, ensuring robust maintenance programs (TPM) and reliability of plant and equipment. Identify, justify, and manage capital investment projects to support modernization and capacity expansion. Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to ISO standards and Quality Management Systems, exceeding customer expectations for product quality and reliability. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain, New Product Development, and other key functions to ensure seamless integration of production schedules and new product launches. Support SIOP processes and contribute to enterprise-level decision-making. Leadership & Talent Development: Build a high-performing leadership pipeline within Manufacturing, Engineering, and Lean teams. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning. Financial Stewardship: Deliver annual manufacturing budget commitments and optimize cost structures without compromising safety or quality. Monitor and report on manufacturing KPIs, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives. What you’ll bring Must-haves: Graduate degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred. Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing operations within multinational companies, including oversight of multiple functions (Manufacturing, Engineering, Lean). Proven track record of delivering results in large-scale manufacturing environments, driving operational excellence, cost optimization, and cultural transformation. Strong knowledge of ISO standards, Quality Management Systems, and safety programs; experience in compliance and audit readiness. Nice-to-haves: Experience with digital manufacturing technologies, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and data-driven decision-making tools such as Power BI. Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to anticipate future trends and implement proactive strategies. Exceptional leadership and influencing skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels in a matrix and global organization.
