We are looking for a Head of Mathematics for an international school based in Changzhou. This position is available from the upcoming 2026-27 academic year starting in February or August 2026. Job details Lead the Mathematics department to deliver a high-quality, fully integrated curriculum, working closely with senior leaders and relevant middle leaders. Ensure clear progression and continuity of maths learning across all grades. Develop and maintain a department scheme of work with strong resource choices and engaging learning activities (including bilingual delivery where required). Maintain the quality, organisation, safety, and accessibility of maths teaching resources, including clear cover work for absent staff. Oversee effective online learning resources for students unable to attend school in person. Build students’ confidence and capability to tackle rich, challenging mathematical problems and investigations. Lead assessment quality: design, standardise, moderate, and report on department assessments and examinations. Manage external/internal exam processes, including entries, coursework requirements, and internal moderation submissions. Track and analyse maths outcomes, exam pathways, and progress trends; support students and the school on results days with guidance and next steps. Observe maths teaching, providing high-impact feedback, coaching, and measurable targets aligned with school expectations. Mentor and develop maths staff through professional development pathways (e.g., PDQ, QTS), and contribute to performance appraisal and best-practice sharing. Drive improvement through evidence-informed practice and department-led research projects to strengthen teaching and learning. Support school marketing and admissions activity by preparing and delivering high-quality trial lessons/Open Day experiences when required. Ensure effective support for students with SEND and those requiring additional challenge, working with Learning Support and relevant school leads. Contribute fully to boarding school life, enrichment, competitions, trips, and school events; attend/chair department meetings, keep accurate records, and manage the maths budget and fixed assets, while teaching approximately a 67% timetable and completing other reasonable duties as required by the Head Master. Strong understanding of the value and impact of a fully integrated bilingual curriculum Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an internationally recognised equivalent teaching qualification Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mathematics or a closely related field Proven experience teaching A Level Mathematics or equivalent Track record of preparing students for entry to top-tier international universities Excellent spoken and written English Salary and benefits Annual salary of 500,000 to 550,000 RMB commensurate with experience and qualifications Accommodation provided Air-ticket allowance of 10,000 RMB, extra 5,000 RMB to the spouse Public holidays Summer and Winter holidays Medical Insurance for teachers and spouses Relocation allowance Free tuition for up to 2 children
