We are seeking a visionary and experienced leader to take on the role of Head of Nursing Development & Training Centres at VetPartners. This role is instrumental in shaping the future of veterinary nursing across Australia and New Zealand by setting clinical standards, leading our Veterinary Training Centres (VTCs), and developing impactful training programs that support the growth and utilisation of veterinary nurses.
Reporting to the General Manager – Clinical Capability, the Head of Nursing Developmennt & Training Centres will drive strategic initiatives to enhance nursing capability, oversee the design and delivery of education programs, and lead a geographically dispersed team. This role also champions the Nurse Advisory Committee and collaborates closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to improve nursing practice across the network. With a strong balance of clinical insight, operational leadership, and passion for education, this role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the veterinary profession.

SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Veterinary Nursing or Technology (postgraduate education in clinical education or leadership is highly desirable)
  • Extensive experience in the veterinary industry, including clinical leadership or education roles
  • Proven ability to manage direct reports and build high-performing, purpose-led teams
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
  • High proficiency in digital tools and reporting systems
  • Confidence to lead through ambiguity, drive change, and advocate for the nursing profession
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Australia and New Zealand
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and governance of the Vet Nurse Scope of Practice framework across all jurisdictions
  • Design and oversee nursing education programs tailored to various career stages and competencies
  • Direct the Veterinary Training Centres (VTCs), including program planning, educator support, marketing, and performance evaluation
  • Identify new opportunities for growth, innovation, and revenue within the VTC offering
  • Chair the Nurse Advisory Committee and drive the advancement of clinical nursing standards and policies
  • Champion the professional development and utilisation of veterinary nurses in-clinic across the network
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, animal ethics, and training-related regulatory standards
  • Manage operational and financial oversight of all training centre activities
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, external partners, and educational institutions
