Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Role Summary:
Own the operational performance of the business across all divisions, reporting directly to the Managing Director. Drive efficiency, quality and consistency in the way Energia delivers its services — spanning rental, events and any associated functions. Lead, align and develop operational teams, establish scalable processes and controls, and translate the MD's strategic direction into day-to-day operational execution. Act as the MD's primary delegate for all operational matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take overall accountability for operational performance across all business divisions; set and monitor KPIs, service standards and delivery targets.
- Act as the MD's operational deputy — manage the business day-to-day, freeing the MD to focus on strategy, growth and key client relationships.
- Lead, develop and performance-manage divisional and functional heads across rental, events, logistics, warehouse and support functions.
- Design, implement and continuously improve operational processes, systems and controls to drive efficiency, quality and scalability across the business.
- Own resource planning and capacity management across divisions; ensure the right people, equipment and materials are in place to meet demand.
- Lead and manage the annual CAPEX planning process; evaluate asset investment proposals, prioritise fleet and equipment acquisitions, and ensure capital expenditure aligns with operational demand and business growth plans.
- Own fleet reliability and asset performance across the business; implement preventative maintenance programmes, track equipment uptime and utilisation, and drive continuous improvement in fleet availability and lifecycle management.
- Work closely with finance to monitor CAPEX spend against budget, assess return on asset investment and make data-driven recommendations on fleet expansion, replacement or disposal.
- Monitor and manage operational budgets in conjunction with finance; identify cost savings and efficiency gains without compromising service quality.
- Oversee health, safety and compliance across all operational activities; ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers and partners; support the MD in resolving escalated operational issues.
- Lead the planning and execution of major projects and events where cross-divisional coordination is required.
- Provide the MD with regular, structured operational reporting — highlighting performance, risks, opportunities and recommendations.
- Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance across all operational teams.
- Support the MD in evaluating new business opportunities, operational expansions and strategic initiatives.

- Cost and efficiency: deliver operational spend within approved budget and improve the operating cost-to-revenue ratio by a minimum of 5% year-on-year.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 10+ years in operational leadership roles, with at least 3 years at a senior or head-of-function level.
- Proven track record managing multi-divisional or multi-site operations, ideally within rental, events, construction, logistics or related services industries.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing large, diverse operational teams.
- Experience owning or contributing to CAPEX planning and asset investment decisions, including fleet procurement, replacement cycles and lifecycle cost analysis.
- Demonstrable track record improving fleet reliability, asset utilisation and maintenance performance in an operational environment.
- Commercially astute with a solid understanding of P&L, budgeting and cost management.

- Strong communicator — equally effective with frontline crews, divisional managers and board-level stakeholders.
- Highly organised, data-driven and commercially minded.
Physical & Working Conditions:
- Regular presence across operational sites and facilities required; flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods, major projects and events.
