Head of Operations   Position: Head of Operations – Multifamily Location: The Colony, TX (onsite) Travel: 50–60% (Texas and Multi-State Operations) Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Bonus + Benefits Reports To: Executive Leadership / Ownership   Company Overview FSBR is a family-owned organization with more than $900M in annual revenue and a long-standing reputation for operational excellence, customer service, and industry leadership. Through strong organic growth and strategic acquisitions, the company has built a dominant presence across multiple states and continues to invest in new opportunities that support long-term expansion. As part of its next phase of growth, the company is launching a dedicated Multifamily Division focused on flooring and interior finish solutions for 3-story, 5-story, and large-scale multifamily apartment developments throughout Texas and the Southern U.S. markets. This new division is expected to generate approximately $65M–$100M in annual revenue in its initial three-year period, creating a unique opportunity for an experienced operations leader to help build, scale, and shape the business from the ground up while leveraging the resources and stability of an established organization.   Position Summary The Director of Operations – Multifamily will serve as a key member of the leadership team responsible for building and scaling the company's multifamily platform across Texas and other growth markets.   This role will provide operational leadership for field execution, installation teams, project delivery, labor management, customer relationships, and overall business performance. The Director will serve as a trusted partner to ownership and executive leadership while ensuring exceptional service delivery to customers and maintaining strong relationships with field personnel, subcontractors, and installation teams.   The ideal candidate possesses a combination of operational leadership, field experience, team development, customer-facing skills, and the ability to effectively lead skilled trades professionals in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.   Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership * Lead day-to-day operations for the multifamily division across multiple markets. * Develop scalable operational processes, procedures, and performance standards to support rapid growth. * Drive project execution, installation quality, schedule adherence, customer satisfaction, and profitability. * Monitor key operational metrics, productivity, labor utilization, installation performance, and project margins. * Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute growth strategies for the division. Field Operations Management * Provide direct leadership and oversight of field operations teams, installers, project managers, warehouse personnel, and operational support staff. * Establish strong relationships with skilled labor, subcontractors, installation crews, trim delivery teams, and trade partners. * Ensure projects are properly staffed and resources are allocated efficiently. * Conduct regular site visits and field reviews to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction. * Identify opportunities for process improvements, labor optimization, and operational efficiencies. Team Leadership & Development * Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing operational teams. * Build a culture of accountability, safety, communication, and customer service. * Coach frontline leaders and supervisors to improve operational performance and leadership effectiveness. * Develop succession planning and workforce development initiatives as the division expands. Customer & Client Relationship Management * Serve as a senior operational point of contact for customers, developers, builders, and strategic partners. * Foster a customer-first culture focused on responsiveness, quality, communication, and problem resolution. * Partner with sales and business development teams to strengthen client relationships and support growth initiatives. * Ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded throughout project execution. Financial & Business Performance * Manage divisional operational performance with accountability for revenue, gross margin, labor productivity, and operational KPIs. * Collaborate with finance and executive leadership on forecasting, budgeting, workforce planning, and resource allocation. * Support expansion into new markets and operational integration of future acquisitions. Qualifications Required * 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience within flooring, interiors, construction services, multifamily, building products, specialty contracting, or related industries. * Demonstrated career progression with increasing responsibility throughout career. * Strong field operations background with direct experience managing installation, project execution, labor management, and customer-facing operations. * Proven success leading teams of skilled trades professionals, installers, subcontractors, warehouse personnel, and operational staff. * Experience overseeing operations across multiple geographic locations. * Strong understanding of multifamily construction, apartment development, renovation programs, or related project environments. * Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills. * Ability to travel approximately 50–60% throughout Texas and other operating markets. Preferred * Experience supporting multifamily apartment construction, build-to-rent, student housing, hospitality, or large-scale residential developments. * Experience leading operations within a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment. * Background in flooring, interior finishes, building materials, specialty trades, or installation services. * Experience supporting acquisition integration and multi-state operational expansion. Critical Success Factors The successful candidate will be: * A respected leader who earns credibility with field teams, installers, and skilled trades professionals. * Highly visible and willing to spend significant time in the field supporting operations. * Customer-focused with a strong service mindset and relationship-driven leadership style. * Comfortable operating within a family-owned organization where trust, accountability, and culture matter. * Capable of balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution. * Motivated by the opportunity to build and scale a new business unit within a highly successful organization. Additional Considerations * Candidate must be able to travel extensively throughout Texas, including Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, as well as other regional markets throughout the southern U.S. as expansion occurs. * Due to the competitive nature of the market, candidates cannot be subject to an active non-compete agreement that would restrict their ability to join the organization. * This position offers significant visibility to ownership and executive leadership and presents a potential long-term growth opportunity as the multifamily division expands. * This is an opportunity for an operational leader who enjoys building businesses, leading people, and creating scalable infrastructure while making a direct impact on a rapidly growing division backed by the resources and reputation of an established industry leader.
