WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

The job holder will be responsible for leading a team of Business Development and Knowledge Exchange professionals in establishing, supporting, and maintaining close collaborative partnerships between the Faculty’s world-leading academic community and Industry. You will work across a wide variety of fields and industry sectors. Your main duties will include

  • Leading a team of high-performance individuals to build and deliver strategic collaborations between business and Imperial, seeking resonance between academic curiosity and business need.
  • Influencing and supporting the Partnerships Strategic Plan.
  • Building and driving strong relationships with key industry and academic stakeholders; gaining an outstanding insight into the innovative industry/academic interface.
  • Supporting our academics to both nurture fresh collaborations and maintain long-standing partnerships; provide guidance to those who are new to working with industry alongside experienced collaborators.
  • Driving projects through from ideation to completion, working collaboratively with other College functions to deliver, ensuring consistency of approach and alignment with College-wide activities.
  • Promoting Imperial’s world-leading research capabilities and technologies, both internally and externally, to champion technical excellence through collaboration.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A strong technical background in an area related to at least one of those within the Faculty of Natural Sciences’ departments; experience working in a research environment, either in a University or in Industry.
  • A passion for research and innovation; the desire to work with world-leading researchers to drive impact.
  • Led a technical team in a product or service delivery environment, in a University or Industry setting.
  • A collaborative approach; experience working across multiple fields and functions.
  • An understanding of university funding mechanisms, technology transfer, and commercialisation.
  • Managed projects and relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A strategic and analytical mentality, strong delivery focus, and excellent communication skills
