JOB SUMMARY

We are currently looking for a Head of Patient, Public and Stakeholder Engagement to join our Patient, Public and Stakeholder Engagement Function within the Enablement group.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

In 2020, following on from a review undertaken by Baroness Cumberlege, the MHRA faced criticism for the way it had listened to the public and patients in the past. As a result, we strengthened our patient and public engagement team, and increased our focus on improving the Agency’s performance in relation to our dealings with the public, patients and carers.
The Patient, Public and Stakeholder team ensures ensuring high quality delivery of priorities, and evaluation of outcomes, working with colleagues across the agency to ensure we put patients first and deliver a step-change in our patient and public involvement.

  • Leadership-Self-motivated, with a strong sense of personal accountability, ensuring tasks, projects and issues are appropriately dealt with to their successful delivery or conclusion.
  • Working Together- Strong diplomatic skills, able to handle challenging circumstances or relationships, talented at establishing and sustaining productive stakeholder relationships.
  • Senior level experience of developing patient, public and stakeholder engagement strategies in the public sector, and delivering complex engagement programmes using a range of tools and techniques, drawing on an understanding of customer and business insight.
