About the Opportunity

We have been engaged to assist in the recruitment for a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced and dilligent payroll professional who can combine strong technical payroll expertise with people leadership, process improvement and stakeholder management. You will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders across all facets of the business and ensuring delivery of payroll while driving continuous improvement across systems and processes.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
• Provide leadership, coaching and development to the payroll team.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, agreements and payroll obligations.
• Oversee payroll governance, controls, reconciliations and reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy and scalability.
• Manage payroll systems and support system enhancements, upgrades and implementations.
• Partner with HR, Finance and senior stakeholders on payroll-related matters.
• Oversee payroll reporting, audits and year-end processes.
• Drive the implementation of new software from RFP to execution stage

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience leading a payroll function within a medium to large organisation.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, someone who genuinely seeks to understand and partner with other areas of the organisation
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, superannuation and taxation requirements, an ability to educate those around you and bring this experience to ensure ongoing compliance is met.
• Proven experience managing, developing and motivating a payroll team.
• Experience delivering payroll transformation, process improvement or system implementation projects - experience across large systems such as Dayforce, Ichris and SAP are highly regarded.
• A high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to payroll accuracy and compliance.
