Description

THE ORGANISATION

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, including rare habitats, historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.
We are now looking for a Head of Policy and Secretariat to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

Responsibilities

As Head of Policy and Secretariat, you will lead a small central team responsible for policy, governance, and supporting our decision-making processes.
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our external policy direction, advising the CEO, Chair, Trustees and senior leaders on political, reputational and governance matters.
You will attend and minute Trustee Meetings and, acting as secretary to the Executive Committee, you will lead the secretariat function and ensure decision-making structures are robust, transparent and aligned with regulatory and charitable objectives and requirements.

Additionally, you will:

  • Oversee a small team within the General Counsel directorate
  • Manage key relationships with stakeholders
  • Oversee external-facing policies and communications
  • Lead formal correspondence for the CEO and Chair relating to governance and policy
  • Monitor and manage changes to The Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997
