JOB SUMMARY

At the forefront of shaping Britain’s energy future, Ofgem needs strong policy leaders who can turn big ideas into practical solutions that deliver for everyone. We’re looking for a Head of Policy to play a vital role in directing the policy development that will keep our energy system fair, affordable and fit for the future.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving towards Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to play a central role in work that affects every household and business in the UK. You’ll bring people together across teams and professions to manage complex policy-related projects to a high standard.
Leading multi-disciplinary teams, you will role-model what success looks like, setting transparent objectives and milestones, managing interdependencies, risks and resources and creating an environment where your team can thrive. As a leader, you’ll provide clear direction and champion a supportive, inclusive culture that reflects Ofgem’s values.
We’re looking for someone with extensive experience in a policy leadership role, with a proven record of designing policy implementation and delivery systems that drive real impact. You will have the confidence and judgement to manage change, make process improvements and deliver strong outcomes at pace. You’ll also bring excellent leadership skills, with the ability to develop and support colleagues, manage multiple priorities and build an inclusive, high-performing team.
Your role will be key to creating an open and inclusive workplace, where diversity is valued and everyone is supported to bring their authentic selves to work. The culture you will forge will encourage new ideas, collaboration and innovation, and promote opportunities to grow and apply expertise to this important work that really matters for customers and the environment. We have a critical mission to ensure Britain’s energy system remains safe, affordable and sustainable as we move towards Net Zero. This is your chance to play a prominent part in that future and help deliver lasting change for millions of people.
