Description
Description About the Role Power is the primary constraint to scaling AI infrastructure globally. We're building one of the largest privately developed power platforms in the world — up to 17 gigawatts of dedicated, behind-the-meter generation capacity — and we need a visionary leader to make it happen. As Head of Power, you will define and execute the strategy for securing, developing, and operating multi-gigawatt energy infrastructure co-located with next-generation AI data center campuses. This isn't a support function. This is the engine that makes everything else possible. What You'll Do Power Strategy & Development Define and execute the behind-the-meter generation strategy across a diversified energy portfolio: natural gas turbines (combined cycle and simple cycle), utility-scale solar and wind, and nuclear (SMRs and large-scale plants) Design resilient hybrid systems engineered for continuous, high-availability power supporting mission-critical AI workloads Oversee feasibility, siting, and development of integrated energy campuses co-located with data centers Commercial Structuring & Energy Markets Structure and negotiate fuel supply agreements, equipment procurement, EPC contracts, and long-term energy offtake frameworks Evaluate and optimize total cost of ownership across generation technologies Regulatory, Permitting & External Engagement Lead permitting and regulatory strategy across federal, state, and local jurisdictions Build and manage relationships with energy regulators, environmental agencies, and nuclear regulatory bodies Ensure compliance with environmental, emissions, and safety standards — without sacrificing deployment speed Engineering & Delivery Integration Partner closely with data center development, engineering, and construction teams to synchronize power delivery with aggressive build schedules Drive innovation in microgrid design, energy storage integration, and grid islanding capabilities Operational Excellence & Risk Management Establish high-reliability operational models for utility-scale power generation assets Identify and mitigate risks across fuel supply, permitting, technology deployment, and construction execution Develop contingency strategies to ensure uninterrupted power supply at hyperscale Requirements What You Bring 15+ years of experience in large-scale power generation development, energy infrastructure, or independent power producer (IPP)/utility environments Proven track record delivering large-scale generation assets across gas, renewables, and/or nuclear — ideally at multi-site or gigawatt scale Deep technical expertise in natural gas turbine plants, renewable hybridization, nuclear development (SMRs strongly preferred), and behind-the-meter microgrid systems Executive-level leadership with experience managing complex, multi-billion-dollar infrastructure programs Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management skills — from regulators to construction partners to C-suite Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting hyperscale AI or data center infrastructure Background in energy transition and decarbonization strategies Familiarity with emerging nuclear technologies (SMRs) and large-scale hybrid energy systems Advanced degree in engineering, energy systems, or business (MBA preferred)
Responsibilities
Define and execute the strategy for securing and operating multi-gigawatt energy infrastructure co-located with AI data centers. Lead the development of a diversified energy portfolio including natural gas, renewables, and nuclear power.
