Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a bold strategy to aggressively grow the Primary Freight business.
  • Build and maintain a profitable customer base, achieving ambitious revenue and margin growth targets.
  • Form and manage strategic partnerships with both suppliers and carriers.
  • Design scalable, differentiated freight solutions that solve key pain points for suppliers.
  • Oversee end-to-end Primary Freight operations, ensuring service excellence, safety, and compliance.
  • Drive innovation and scalability through technology, automation, and data analytics.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing commercial and operational team.
  • Champion a customer-first mindset while aligning with Metcash’s broader Supply Chain strategy.

You’re Likely a Match If

  • 10+ years’ experience in freight, logistics, or supply chain business development (ideally in retail or FMCG).
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven record of driving business growth.
  • Experience managing P&L, financial forecasting, and operational performance.
  • Exceptional negotiation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • A visionary, data-driven mindset balanced with hands-on execution.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a passion for building capability and fostering innovation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, or finance.
