The Head of Project Development is responsible for leading the Project Development team in delivering high-quality project and technical deliverables, project estimation, contractor scoping, market engagement, and procurement from concept through to Final Investment Decision (FID). Key Areas of Responsibility Support the Growth team by leading the development of renewable energy, off-grid and specialist gas project/s, in relation to but not limited to resourcing, scoping, concept designs, modelling, pricing, tender evaluation, documenting and preparing a project for successful conversion and hand over to Project Delivery. Provide leadership, direction and oversight to the team responsible for developing project and technical deliverables, project estimation, contractor scoping, market engagement and procurement from concept through to a final investment decision. Lead the continuous improvement of EDL’s product offering, with regular strategic review of cost competitiveness and delivery approach. Apply understanding of project management and design principles to solve complex challenges and optimize project outcomes. Provide guidance and support to team members as needed. Collaborate closely with customers, contractors, authorities, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project objectives. Identify potential risks and opportunities throughout the project development phase and apply strategies to mitigate risks. Provide clear and concise communication of project risks to executives. Develop, manage and maintain appropriate internal governance systems including the Project Guidelines, in coordination and consultation with internal stakeholders. Control, prioritise and report on a portfolio of projects in development phase, focusing on resourcing, cost control, scheduling, quality control, risk and procurement. Support and manage the development of commercial agreements with contractors and suppliers. Ensure that both the companies· and specific project Environmental, Health and Safety obligations relating to project activities are implemented and/or suitably prepared and ready for project delivery. Ensure the project comply with statutory and legislative requirements. Facilitate and incorporate stakeholder management, sustainability and community engagement objectives of EDL and each specific project. Support, mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and collaboration. Qualifications and Experience Engineering or equivalent degree required Qualifications in Project Management advantageous Approximately 10 years experience within the power generation industry, specifically design and construction of power stations and renewable energy assets. Strong commercial acumen and experienced in negotiation exercises Excellent internal and external stakeholder management and ability to clearly communicate to executive level Excellent verbal & written communication skills Ability to delegate, lead, and supervise. Knowledge of statutory requirements relating to the industry and latest best practice.
