ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE OF THE HEAD OF QUALITY

  • A natural leader with the ability to inspire, motivate and influence people to drive the business forward and achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrable experience as a senior Quality Leader who has managed programmes of change across large Quality teams, major projects, and budgets ideally within a highly regulated industry with muti-disciplined major contracts.
  • Proven experience in the construction and acceptance process with sufficient experience to enable a good understanding of adjacent activities and through life operational issues.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful Quality Management within an Engineering or project delivery environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ideally EN 1090-2:2018 and defence quality standards such as. AQAP 2110.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE HEAD OF QUALITY

  • Diploma in Quality Management or degree level qualification.
  • Lead Auditor qualification to ISO 9001.
  • Chartered membership to an appropriate professional body, preferably Charted Quality Institute (CQI).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean qualification.
  • A qualification in Risk Management would be beneficial.

THE ROLE

As a Head of Quality, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will have a senior-level leadership role responsible for directing and supporting the strategic and operational performance of quality teams across a variety of large scale, high integrity complex projects across our Marine business, including but not limited to Successor Missile Tube Assemblies, Type 31, Submarine Dismantling Programme, International Shipbuilding (Poland and Indonesia) and Marine Support at Devonport & Bristol.

Day-to-day, you’ll be accountable for driving business strategy, enhancing operational efficiency, and optimising performance across multiple Quality teams. for maximum efficiency, while developing functional plans and priorities to achieve business objectives. Through strong leadership and influence, you will guide managers to deliver exceptional results and take a forward-thinking approach to long-term performance, aligning with our Marine Sector’s overall strategy set by the Marine Chief Operating Officer to achieve commercial success.

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Quality function; define and implement the plan for delivering Quality services to Marine, covering quality assurance, quality control and customer feedback management, in line with Global Quality strategy.
  • Allocate resources dedicated to the management of the Quality capability that will ensure resources are aligned to customer contracts and ensure customer outcomes are delivered on across the variety of contracts within the Marine Sector.
  • Oversee the production of Management Information data, ensuring the timely reporting to Marine Leadership Team, Global Quality for business planning and Management Reviews.
  • Ensure the Quality function have robust resourcing plans to support the businesses current and future demands and the development of current resource through robust Quality community care, engagement, and routes of career progression and management.
  • Represent the Marine Quality Function at Quality Leadership Group as well to diverse range of stakeholders within Babcock International and our customers, suppliers, and industrial partners.
  • Look for new innovations to improve both the quality of our outputs and improve efficiency, as well as working closely to influence the Operations teams to improve the quality of the outputs.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home and requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites.
