Description

We have an exciting position for an experienced and conscientious Head of SHEQ to lead our SHEQ strategy and initiatives. In this Senior Management role, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous improvement across our operations and fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
As the Head of SHEQ, you will lead a dedicated team of 2 SHEQ professionals and work closely with Depot Managers and Senior Leadership Managers. Owens Group employ circa 1000 employees across 19 sites in South Wales, the West Midlands and the North West.
Contract type: Permanent, full-time
Location: Flexible - South Wales, UK (with travel to sites across Northwest England, West Midlands and South Wales)
Salary: Competitive dependent on experience

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead and motivate employees and utilise the Compliance process to develop employees at Owens Road Services Ltd and associated companies.
Plan and manage resources through cross-functional approach. Champion ‘right organisation’ culture with regards to Compliance and Health/Safety.
Provide specialist advice and be a role model.
Represent and promote image of Owens Road Services Ltd and influence/advise on strategic issues.
Build customer driven and customer focused relationships.
Continually improve health safety and working environment.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Experience in health and safety, including operations experience
Track record in project management
Experience of maintaining externally audited managements standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO45001 / BRC
Flexibility to travel extensively across multiple sites

SPECIFIC KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead and direct the SHEQ Team to enable them to deliver a comprehensive Service to the business
Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
Lead the Safety management function that underpin the business culture and legal undertakings of the operators’ licence.
Ensure that the accreditation systems are effectively managed throughout the organisation by the regular monitoring/auditing of the existing systems, with periodic reviews to ensure current best practise techniques are incorporated.
Design, implement and continually review the Health/Safety/Environmental policies, procedures and management systems necessary to promote a safe working environment that complies with or exceeds legislative requirements, and to provide advice and guidance to all levels of the organisation, with an aim to minimise risk of injury/ill health.
Design and co-ordinate the Health/Safety/Environmental management systems, including the policy and procedures necessary to reduce the adverse impact of plant operations on the internal, local environment in compliance with legislation, best practise and moral consideration.
Develop and implement programmes to increase employee awareness and knowledge of Health & Safety Environmental policies.
Interact with all levels of management, routinely and across all functional areas to facilitate company and fleet compliance.
Work with respective teams to have a common approach to SHEQ.
Manage and lead improvement initiatives across the organisation.
Work on projects of diverse scope requiring analysis of data, interpretation of regulations, assessment of implementations of policies and procedures and root cause investigation in order to resolve compliance issues.
