Description

Our Client is seeking an experienced and driven Head of SHEQ to lead and manage the strategic and operational SHEQ function across all company divisions. This senior leadership role will play a critical part in ensuring compliance, enhancing risk management, and fostering a strong safety and quality culture across construction, telecoms, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a SHEQ leadership role within telecoms, utilities, civil engineering, or construction sectors
  • Proven track record of managing compliance with national legislation and industry standards
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety systems, audit frameworks, and risk management
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills
  • Experience with incident investigations, audits, and client-facing roles

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement SHEQ strategies, policies, and procedures in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
  • Lead the SHEQ team and oversee training, development, and competency across SHEQ functions
  • Ensure all operations comply with current health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, and quality standards
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and drive continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments; ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Act as the key point of contact with clients, regulatory authorities, and certification bodies on all SHEQ matters
  • Prepare and present SHEQ reports and performance metrics to executive leadership
  • Foster a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation, engaging staff and contractors
  • Support tendering processes with input on risk, compliance, and SHEQ assurance
  • Champion environmental sustainability initiatives and monitor performance against ESG goals
