Description
The Head of Supply Chain is responsible for developing, leading, and optimising the organisation’s end-to-end supply chain strategy to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and resilience. The role ensures the seamless flow of goods, services, and information across procurement, inventory, logistics, and distribution, while aligning supply chain operations with business objectives and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will also foster strong stakeholder relationships, drive innovation, and build sustainable practices that support organisational growth and enhance customer satisfaction. Main Duties/Responsibilities Strategic Supply Chain Management Procurement & Vendor Management Inventory & Stock Control Logistics & Distribution Oversight Compliance & Risk Management Process Mapping & Optimization Demand Planning and Forecasting Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement BU Team Leadership & Training Key Relationships Internal Contacts and purpose of interactions Clinical Teams – Collaborate to ensure timely availability of medical supplies. Finance Teams – Align procurement strategies with budgetary goals. Operations Teams – Support operational efficiency through effective logistics management. Compliance Teams – Ensure adherence to regulatory standards for supply chain activities. External Contacts and purpose of interactions Vendors & Suppliers – Maintain strong relationships for reliable sourcing and delivery. Regulatory Bodies – Ensure compliance with healthcare procurement standards. Logistics Providers – Manage transportation and distribution of medical supplies. Industry Networks – Engage in knowledge sharing and benchmarking for supply chain best practices. Key Skills and Competencies Qualifications Formal education required for competence in the job Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration (MBA), or Logistics. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Healthcare Administration is relevant. Certification in CIPS, CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), or Lean Six Sigma is preferred. Experience 10+ years in supply chain or procurement leadership roles in healthcare or related industries. Proven experience in vendor management, inventory optimization, and logistics planning. Knowledge & Technical Competencies Registrations, Affiliations, Professional Certifications Expertise in healthcare supply chain operations, procurement processes, and inventory control. Strong knowledge of ERP systems, data analytics, and supply chain automation tools. Membership in supply chain management associations such as APICS or CIPS is preferred. Behavioural Competencies Strong leadership in managing supply chain operations and teams. High ability to optimize processes and ensure cost-effective procurement. Strategic mindset in addressing supply chain challenges and risks. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
