Our client is a fast-growing, Australian-headquartered ecommerce retailer with a loyal customer base and a strong vision for the future. A real success story, they're now expanding internationally, and yet they feel they're only just getting started.

Ambitious yet pragmatic, they've built a small but mighty team to date, including an Ops Manager, and are now at the point of triggering a Head of Supply Chain and Operations appointment to set the strategy for the future, as the business continues to grow and explores new avenues, including retail.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the founder, the successful candidate will be highly self-aware, with a clear view of where the gaps sit in the business. They're looking for a collaborative, strategic leader who can take the supply chain from immature to mature, and is genuinely trusted to deliver, with real autonomy over team structure, resourcing, systems and strategy, freeing the founder up to focus on what they do best.

You'll lead an existing Ops Manager and small supply chain team, building out the broader function as it matures, with real scope to set the strategic direction as the business explores new channels, including retail, and expands internationally.

What You'll Be Doing

• Setting the strategy for the end-to-end supply chain function and building a fit-for-purpose, scalable team, spanning procurement, planning, operations, 3PL and supplier relationship management
• Leading key systems improvements, including warehouse and inventory management
• Leading and growing an existing Ops Manager and small team, with genuine autonomy over team structure and resourcing
• Improving forecasting and planning across a complex product range
• Driving inventory accuracy and stock efficiency across a broad product range
• Overseeing supplier quality and reliability standards
• Managing existing 3PL relationships, and identifying and establishing new 3PL partnerships as the business enters new markets
• Building resilience into the supply chain to support peak trading periods
• Partnering closely with the founder to translate strategy into execution, with an appetite to trial new approaches and technology
• Owning operational outcomes including returns, customer service, and root cause analysis
• Setting the business up for its next phase of growth, including new channels and international markets

About You

• Proven experience scaling operations within a fast-growing, physical-product business
• A genuine builder profile, comfortable taking a supply chain from immature to mature
• Comfortable getting hands-on with data and forecasting in a business carrying broad product complexity
• A collaborative, strategic leader who can build sustainable systems for the long term
• Vision, strategy and execution capability, someone who has grown ecommerce brands before, ideally with international exposure
• Open to new ways of working, including new technology and growth channels
• A track record of building trust quickly and taking genuine ownership
