Roles & Responsibilities

Head of Teaching and Learning Location: Fujairah, UAE Employment type: Full-time Workplace: On-site Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Curriculum Lead the development, implementation, and review of the school's teaching and learning strategy in line with the school's vision, mission, and adopted curriculum. Oversee curriculum planning across all subjects and phases, ensuring coherence, progression, and alignment with internal and external standards (e.g. IGCSE, A-Level, MOE, IB, or equivalent). Drive innovation in pedagogy, including practical investigations, ICT integration, real-world applications, and research-informed teaching practices. Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning through lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny, and data analysis. Lead on accreditation, inspection, and self-evaluation processes (e.g. ADEK, BSO, KHDA, or equivalent), ensuring the school meets and exceeds required standards. Staff Development and Coaching Design and deliver a comprehensive professional development programme that builds teacher capacity and improves classroom practice. Mentor, coach, and support teachers at all career stages, including ECTs, experienced staff, and middle leaders. Differentiate support to meet the needs of a diverse range of educators and learners, including high achievers, EAL students, and those requiring additional support. Foster a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous improvement among teaching staff. Conduct performance management reviews and contribute to recruitment, induction, and retention of high-quality teaching staff. Assessment, Data, and Student Development Oversee assessment, tracking, and reporting systems across the school, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Analyse student progress and attainment data to identify trends, close gaps, and inform intervention strategies. Ensure students are well prepared for internal and external examinations, where applicable, such as IGCSE, A-Level, or other relevant qualifications. Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and progress at a whole-school level. Champion high expectations and outcomes for all learners, including those with SEND, EAL, and gifted and talented students. School Community and Collaboration Collaborate with senior leaders, heads of department, and teachers to plan schemes of work, share best practices, and support cross-curricular initiatives. Contribute to extracurricular activities such as academic clubs, competitions, or enrichment events. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support. Uphold school policies on behaviour management, safeguarding, and child protection at all times. Represent the school at internal and external events, including parent meetings, open days, and professional networks.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Experience Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Education, a subject specialism, or a closely related field. Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or equivalent). Minimum 5 7 years of full-time teaching experience in a school setting, including leadership or middle leadership responsibility. Proven track record of improving teaching quality and student outcomes. Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching and learning. Excellent communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Familiarity with data management systems and assessment tools. Experience leading professional development or coaching programmes. Experience with inspection frameworks.
