The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping and delivering BnM’s technology strategy, leading the strategic direction and daily operations of both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). They will be responsible for driving business transformation through effective use of technology, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting long-term growth.
The role also encompasses ensuring strong cyber resilience, data governance, and regulatory compliance, while fostering innovation and delivering secure, reliable, and future-ready systems aligned with the company’s evolving needs—offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on BnM’s digital and operational landscape.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
- The Head of Technology will be responsible for defining and deliver the company’s enterprise-wide technology strategy, aligning IT and OT initiatives with corporate goals and business strategy. It will involve shaping the long-term roadmap for digital transformation, driving value through innovation, and championing the adoption of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. A strong governance mindset is essential, ensuring all strategic decisions are underpinned by risk management, compliance, and industry best practices;
- The Head of Technology will ensure efficient, secure, and resilient operation of all IT and OT systems across the organisation. This includes overseeing infrastructure, applications, networks, and service delivery, while ensuring high availability and robust business continuity planning. The role requires strong oversight of technology security and risk management, and experience implementing standards such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443. Knowledge of operational technology in industrial environments is essential, particularly in line with the NIS2 directive;
- Lead the development and implementation of cybersecurity frameworks that protect BnM’s digital and physical assets. This includes maintaining compliance with GDPR, NIS2, and other applicable regulations, as well as managing enterprise risk through structured security protocols. Experience with the implementation of ISO 27001 and operational technology security standards like IEC 62443 is critical. The role also requires an understanding of how cybersecurity integrates with broader business continuity and disaster recovery planning;
- This role will collaborate across all business areas to ensure technology strategies meet business needs and regulatory requirements. It requires engagement with executive leadership, operational teams, and external partners, including regulatory bodies and technology vendors;
- The Head of Technology will be responsible for technology procurement under the Utilities Directive (where applicable), supporting transparent, cost-effective, and compliant supplier relationships;
- The Head of Technology will actively apply and leverage their experience in the renewable energy sector to provide insight into sector-specific regulatory requirements and operational challenges. They will ensure that the intersection of IT and OT functions complies fully with relevant regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, NIS2, and ISO/IEC standards. Embedding compliance, security, and operational excellence into all technology-related decision-making and initiatives will be a core responsibility of the role;
- Manage the reduction of the Total Cost of Ownership for the Group’s IT assets. Reduce the Total Cost of Ownership for IT Services;
- All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health and Safety, and Welfare of co-employees and member of the public using the premises;
- As a key member of the Senior Management team, proactively use the Performance Management process as a means to support resource planning within your team and the wider organisation;
The Person:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Honours Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline;
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT, with significant senior leadership experience managing both IT and OT functions in medium to large organisations;
- Proven track record in delivering technology strategies that support business objectives and drive transformation;
- Demonstrable experience in implementing and managing cybersecurity frameworks, including ISO 27001 and IEC 62443;
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements such as GDPR, NIS2, and the Utilities Directive;
- Experience in or closely aligned with the renewable energy sector is highly advantageous;
- Operated at Head of Function level or equivalent in a comparable organisation;
