The purpose of the role is to provide thought leadership and innovation to the Energy Assets business unit with a focus on developing and delivering a technology strategy to ensure AGL delivers on our ambition to add 12 GW new renewable generation and firming by the end of 2035, and seek options to accelerate where possible. The generation profile required to achieve this goal will be very different to what it is today. AGL needs to digitise and innovate, leveraging data, AI/ML and other technologies to ensure we can meet or exceed our goals. This includes:

  • Acting as an enabler and agent of change as AGL achieves its goal of being the countries’ largest renewable energy generator adding 12 GW of renewable generation, optimising investment in construction and acquisition of new assets.
  • Driving and owning technology outcomes by partnering across Technology and Asset Engineering to achieve the Energy Assets (EA) strategy and roadmap

Some of the things you’ll do are:

  • Develop an Energy Assets Technology strategy aligned to the Energy Assets Strategy and Digital Roadmap (working closely with Architecture)
  • Champion the Energy Assets Technology team’s vision in conjunction with other Technology capabilities including Cyber, Architecture, Cloud & Infra, Enterprise Technology and Customer Markets to achieve required outcomes
  • Be the thought leader and technology evangelist to support all of Energy Operations Technology and our business stakeholders in Energy Assets and across AGL
  • Form strong working relationships with the various Energy Assets business stakeholder groups to create a collaborative business partnership operating model.
  • Define and mobilise technology initiatives and ensure delivery of outcomes is consistent with: customer needs, business priorities, technology best practice and AGL’s strategic direction
  • Deliver across multiple agile scrum teams, including providing coaching and guidance to teams to improve: practice quality, speed-to-market and reduce the cost of Technology delivery
  • Develop both technical and people capability across relevant platforms and technologies and new ways of working with scrum, devops, experience design, etc.

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Relevant IT/OT industry experience within complex technology operating environments
  • Experience developing and executing functional IT/OT strategic plans aligned with business strategies and the associated complex prioritisation required
  • Demonstrated success in deploying progressive ways of working
  • Thought leader and passion for new technologies & solving complex business problems
  • Track record of driving positive cultural change
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate productive relationships to collaborate and influence across a range of stakeholders at different levels of seniority – both within a Technology function and with business colleagues
