Mō te tūranga | About the role As Head of Transactional Banking, you will have end-to-end accountability for the strategy, performance and growth of Westpac New Zealand’s Transactional Banking business across IBB. Reporting to the Managing Director, IBB, you will set and deliver a clear multi-year strategy to ensure our transactional propositions are market-leading, scalable and embedded in client relationships. Your remit spans payments, cash management, liquidity, working capital, trade, digitisation and ESG-enabled solutions. You will balance commercial outcomes with customer experience, operational excellence and disciplined risk management. As a core member of the IBB leadership team, you will help shape broader business strategy, influence enterprise investment priorities, and represent Westpac’s transactional capability with senior clients, regulators and external partners. You will translate strategy into a practical roadmap, with clear priorities and measures of success, supporting balance sheet growth, client primacy and long-term relationship value. You will foster a customer-led culture and set clear expectations for service models, workflows, turnaround times and service quality. You will also lead ongoing improvement through digitisation, automation and straight-through processing to strengthen client experience and lift NPS. Playing a key strategic leadership role in developing our future payments, liquidity and working capital management and trade finance capability will be critical to success in this role. As a people leader, you will lead and develop a high-performing leadership team and specialist workforce. You will build capability and succession, and create an environment of accountability, inclusion and commercial ownership, where diverse perspectives are valued and people are supported to thrive. You are a senior banking leader with experience in Institutional, Corporate or Transactional Banking, and strong technical credibility across payments, cash management, working capital, trade or related transactional solutions. You bring a track record of delivering commercial growth while improving customer outcomes, and you enjoy leading large, complex teams through change. You have the presence and influence to work effectively in senior governance forums, and you build trusted relationships across a complex enterprise.
